i am here to rant a little on some things that have been on my mind lately.

first and foremost, since i am a taylor hicks fan, i thought that i too would chime in on the entire “taylor leaving j records” fiasco.

i don’t believe that he was “dropped” from j records, i believe that everyone sat down and mutually decided to part ways.

the funniest quote in the whole mess was in regards to katherine mcphee being dropped from her contract. i don’t know where i read it but it said something like “we don’t believe that katherine can be mainstream.” if kat couldn’t be mainstream than we taylor fans are shit out of luck. there is an almost no existent market for “funk, soul, old school rock and roll music” and that market is older women age 30 and up. if they didn’t think taylor was attractive, taylor would be shit out of luck. someone on the HQ said that taylor would never be more than a casino act. i can believe it. now don’t confuse my observations with disliking mr. hicks because i am a HUGE fan. ask anyone who knows me…HUGE. even if he plays casinos i will still go and watch and be in awe.

ok, im done with that now…don’t wanna piss off the soul patrol, i want to keep my membership in tact.

work is slowing down to a snails crawl now. its painful to lose almost 10 hours a paycheck. retail is a bitch after the holidays, but if its only for a few months it won’t be so bad…IF its only for a few months. my personal feeling is that this will last until november because retail is an industry that is being hurt because a lot of things that we sell are a non necessity.

on to a few things that i am thinking about…

• if i ever…i mean ever get to the point in which elastic is ok in my jeans, i want someone to shank me…just do it, i won’t even ask why. that would mean that i 1. wouldn’t care about actual pant sizes anymore. 2. that i stopped caring about fashion. or 3. if the elastic is around my ankles, i am trying to keep something in…which lead me to…
• if you get excited about a sale on adult diapers or pissed off to a weird level when a store is sold out of the amazingly priced adult diapers…you have run out of living to do…im just saying.
• do you think that the british play guitar hero? i am just thinking that they don’t appear to enjoy anything fun except for masturbating on xtube.
• have you ever seen someone who is wearing a winter cap (you know, the beanie style) that is just sitting on top of someone’s head that looks like a condom? don’t you just wanna run up behind them and pull it down and run off giggling? think about it, you have seen it and want to do that.

well folks, that is all for now, i have put my 500 + words in for the night. im not feeling good and im tired…

I never get a real chance to do this anymore (for reasons we know well) but one thing I learned a long time ago is to give credit where credit is due.   You really took what was a stressful, chaotic, hellish weekend and demonstrated some real leadership ability getting everyone and everything in order.  We had some of our highest sales numbers this weekend, the store was a wreck, new team members abounded who didn’t know the first thing about zoning, not to mention that there was only ONE team lead, yet we got out a half hour after closing each night.  You had the uncanny ability of throwing people around, Jonathan, me, Sue, Cody, etc wherever you needed the most help, AND mentioned to keep your cool with Don Boytim on your ass the entire weekend.   Way to go and kudos on a job well done!! ”

sometimes i honestly think that i don’t do my job well enough…sometimes i do. this weekend was very tough and i felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders, but hearing this kind of feedback along with the feedback from the aforementioned executive makes me feel like what i am doing is making a small difference in the scheme of things.

thank you my friend, you have made my day with your kind words.

oh and im not closing this site, not at all…i am just inviting others to post here while i recharge my batteries a bit.

Ok, enough of that. Lets get on to randomness. Who here has bought Guitar Hero 3? Well i’ll be the first to raise my hand. I bought my Target exclusive bundle pack the day after it came out. Id have to say its one of the most addicting games ive ever played. Steve and i beat the game on Easy in about 4 hours…thats right we played 4 hours straight. Now on my own ive gotten about halfway through on the medium setting. Not to shabby for never playing before. lol. So if you havent gotten it I suggest you go buy it. Its a good time.

More randomness…butterscotch pudding is amazing. I made some at midnight last night and it’s gone already.

I’m out of randoms for the moment so I guess that means this entry is coming to an end. Sorry if I have bored you all but I figured that the site needed some lovin since Mitch isnt feelin up to writing. Lets all send hugs out to the boy with soul. So here’s a big old feel better hug to my best friend and we all hope you write soon. We miss ya.

any other taylor hicks fans and or fellow  HQ member getting a little tired of being jerked around about the “whomp at the warfield” dvd and or the long anticipated membership kit that was announced in february? listen, i personally don’t need any more taylor hicks crap, but we’ve been told for months (in the case of the membership thing) that this stuff was coming! quit talking it up if you don’t have specifics, you just get peoples hopes up!

i am the biggest fan you will meet, i have all the memorabilia. i have met the man 4 times and he remembers me, but lets be honest…why does he even need a concert dvd. in my opinion, this dvd (if/when) its released should only be released through his websites. that way the “soul patrol” can buy it or give it as a gift and no one will bitch and complain about the thing not selling in major retail outlets.

taylor is really a nitch artist, he doesn’t fit into mainstream music. i love the man, his music, his energy, but the man couldn’t sell out an arena to save his life. his major label debut album didn’t fail, it went platinum for christs sake, but i hear people saying that it wasn’t properly promoted. how many albums actually are? aside from poor timing on the release date and release of a single, it was promoted just as well as other albums that ive seen released. i work for a company who sells space on their new release and best seller sections to record companys or distributors and taylor lasted 3 weeks on the new release endcap. ive never seen an artist last that long with that many facings of cds on that coveted spot!

ok, enough on that. on to the randomness…

- flour rocks (i LOVE thickening up everything i cook!)

- i for one, will be voting for steven colbert for president in ’08 (even though mr. clinton is destined to be a first lady!)

- on a scale of 1-10 (ten being the best.) i give the movie “30 days of night” a resounding 4. too slow to develop and not as scary or gory as it appeared in the advertising.

- who ya got in the american league championship series game 7 tonight? im going out on a limb and saying cleveland (there you go dad, props to the indians!)

- you know what rocks hardcore (besides diddy?) sour watermelon candies. anyone disagree?

- ok, flour makes single servings of hamburger helper a little too thick…i stand corrected

- my new favorite flavor of ice cream? raspberry…

We left early in the morning and headed out to the King of Prussia mall. This was deffinately Matthew’s highlight of the day. I’d have to say that was pretty much the biggest mall ive ever step foot in. I absolutely loved it. Somehow I even gave in and bought a shirt from Abercrombie and Fitch. Guess Mitch and Matt are rubbin off on me. haha.

Anyway, we left the mall around 3:30 or so and headed to Millersville University. We arrived close to 5:00 I believe and found our place in line. Mitchell went inside for his meet and greet and Steve, Matt and I found ourselves outside in line fending for ourselves. haha. We talked to many other Taylor fans. Some remembered Mitch posting. I thought that was neat. Matt was interviewed on the news. Too bad we couldnt watch it. The doors opened a little early and we found our seats next to mitch. Front row off to the side of the stage.

We waited quite awhile for the show to start. Steve actually fell asleep for a short period of time. I dont know how he does it. Sometime around 8:00 or so someone from the school came on stage and started talking. They had some sort of singing contest through the school and the two winners of each category sang for us. Shortly after Taylor Came on stage.

Now Taylor’s style isnt something I am used to. Its much different from the other concerts ive been to. And I had never listened to Taylor before this day. I did enjoy the show. I found my foot tapping to the music every now and then. Taylor deffinately knows how to please the crowd. My favorite song was deffinately The Runaround. Im not sure why but that song rocks my world. Being that I never previously listened to Taylor before I cant give you an in depth review of the songs because I dont know what they were called. But I will admit I liked the show and I will probably download some of Taylor’s stuff onto my ipod. Now, dont get excited though. Im still a strong believer of Daughtry. I know mitch, not what you wanted to hear right? Well its the truth. Taylor is great but im a Daughtry fan at heart.

After the show, steve somehow got Mitch a set list. So he’s now mitchell’s favorite person in the world. Well, besides matthew and myself i would hope. haha. It was a great time. Just as i knew it would be. I was with my best friends and thats all I need to have a great time. Im pretty sure Taylor made 2 new fans that night. And I think if anyone gets the chance they should deffinately see him live.

Now that ive rambled and probably not made much sense, im off to bed. Im tired. And besides Transformers comes out in the morning. Everyone go buy it. You wont regret it. Hopefully Mitch will let me post more often.

Its all about trying something new.

the day started early, we were on the road at 7am and off to the king of prussia mall to do some shopping (seems like a repeat of our trip to upper darby, doesn’t it?) we arrived at the mall around 10:15 and started a long day of watching mattie shop until we dropped! honestly, the boy saw price tags and didn’t even blink an eye at them! im glad we got to the mall early because that place turned into a zoo in a matter of hours.

we left for millersville around 3:30, so i could be there for the meet and greet at 5. the drive from king of prussia to millersville is almost an hour and a half exactly, so i was sweating it a little!

when we got to pullico gymnasium the lines were not very long, so i went to the doors and asked about the meet and greet, they told me that someone would be there in a little bit to give us our laminates and wristbands and to take us in.

the m&g was scheduled for 5:30, but we didn’t start going in to meet taylor until 6 o’clock. the organizer told us to have our cameras ready and to be brief because taylor had other things to do before the show. needless to say, i wasn’t expecting much.

the m&g was held in a second floor classroom, so it gave me the feeling of being back in highschool and i was going to see the principal!

finally it was my turn to approach the classroom and taylor looked at me, stuck out his hand and said “hey there, its been a while since ive seen you!” you could have floored me with a feather…the man who i have religiously followed for over a year remembers me. taylor, bill and i bantered back and forth for a few moments and taylor asked me how to spell my name again, i replied with “m-i-t-c-h-e-l-l, you can’t spell mitchell without “hell,” which brought some chuckles out of taylor and more of a reaction out of bill who thought it was a pretty good line.

i stood up after our picture together knowing that he had other things to do and was walking away when he stopped me and asked me where i was from. i told him i was from altoona and explained where it was to which he replied that he had seen signs for it while on the bus. i thanked him for everything and told him that he puts on a hell of a show and he thanked me.

it was definitely the best experience of the tour or possibly my life for that matter. i couldn’t believe that he remembered me!

the other nice perk of the meet and greet (its never happened before, but it was cool that it did this time) was that the organizers let us stay in the building and gain early entry to the gym. i planned my seating strategy and called matt and kristin to let them know. we ended up sitting in the front row of the general admission bleachers, we had great seats but couldn’t see brian and his sax or ricky (the new drummer.)

the show itself was pretty good, although i still contend that the bloomsburg show was heads and shoulders better and hagerstown was the best show ive seen EVER! he messed with the set list a little, it was shorter than other shows. no “medicated goo,” “compared to what,” “hell of a day,” the set list said that they were supposed to play “badge,” but he called for “wherever i lay my hat “instead and the thing that threw it off for me was “the runaround” came before “the right place” (the set list said the opposite, but i guess he changed it up.) doing it backwards threw off the flow, in my humble opinion.

when the lights went out and the band left the stage we all crowded the stage and taylor came back for two encores. an acoustic song, i believe was “happier with him” and “take the long way home” with the rest of the band.

after the show we hung around a bit and steve managed to get me the one piece of memorabilia that i didn’t have…a set list from brian!

over all it was a great day, a long day, and a little bit of a sad day because its all over for a while. i will never forget that day because last july in pittsburgh i wanted his autograph…this october 13th in millersville he remembered who i was.

can’t wait to do it all again. can’t wait for the dvd.

if you’ve not been reading my random musings, you might not have any idea what i am refering to, so let me catch you up…

i won yet another meet and greet with taylor hicks for millersville university on 10/13. it is a simple concept really: buy tickets through his official pay membership website (located HERE) and you’ll be entered into a drawing for one of up to 20 preshow meet and greets. ive been lucky enough to win one all 3 times that i bought tickets there.

some of you may consider me the luckiest man on earth and frankly i am…HAHA!

it will be a good time, im sure. i just hope that my picture with him turns out better than the second time though.

i also intentionally didn’t let kristin and steve listen to any of taylor’s music because i don’t want them forming any opinions (good or bad) until after the show. i PROMISE that mr. hicks will make two new fans at the end of the night and that there will be dancing at some point in the evening! mark my words!
